Use to detect dead and dying cells in cytotoxicity assays and for routine
assessment of cell viability. Trypan blue is recommended for use in dye
exclusion procedures for viable cell counting. Non-viable cells will up-
take trypan blue at a faster rate than viable cells. Used as a vital dye
which is especially important because it is taken up by the reticuloen-
dothelial system.Trypan Blue is blue acid dye with a strong affinity for
cellulose containing substrates such as cotton; less affinity for proteinaceous materials.
