Mr. S.K. Agarwal, Founder & Managing Director, Sisco Research Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., India, was awarded the Indian Achiever's Award 2014 for Industry Development in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development in February 2014
Sisco Research Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers for specialty, biotechnology, research and laboratory chemicals in India, has bagged one of India's most prestigious awards at the recently held award ceremony for the Indian Achievers Awards Forum in Delhi on the 25th February 2014.
Mr. S.K. Agarwal, MD of the company, was one of the many contenders, and ultimately the final Awardee, for the "Indian Achiever's Award for Industry Development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development" category.
With over 50 years as an industry veteran and a social practitioner, Mr. Agarwal has not only led SRL to being a globally renowned and quality focused brand for Laboratory & Research Chemicals, but has parallelly contributed to the Indian & international society by participating in developmental activities initiated by the International Scout & Guides Fellowship (ISGF, Belgium) and the Indian Scout & Guides Fellowship (Indian SGF, New Delhi). He has been a member of the World Committee of the ISGF and National Secretary of the Indian SG and has been associated with both these organizations for more than 5 decades in various other leadership and advisory capacities.
During his association with these organizations (and many others), he has contributed unsparingly in his personal and professional capacity towards the grooming and improvement of the Indian youth, especially scouts and guides. He has been instrumental in assisting the country in time of needs during natural calamities like the Flash Floods & Himalayan Tsunami Relief Operations in 2013 in Uttarakhand, the Tamil Nadu Tsunami Relief Operations in 2004, Gujarat Earthquake Relief Operations in 2001, Orissa Super Cyclone Relief Operations in 1999, Latur Earthquake Relief in 1993, MOWAD Flood Relief in Nagpur in 1991 and countless others in the fields of education, medical support and social empowerment.
Such achievements & contributions, while parallelly creating, establishing and leading SRL through India's changing technology and scientific era between the 1970's till 2014, demonstrated the determination, dexterity and sheer passion of Mr. Agarwal.
On receipt of the award, Mr. Agarwal says, "Every individual in the country, be it a business-owner or one who is engaged in industrial or government service, has a deeper responsibility. That responsibility is towards his country, to his community and towards helping those who may not be as fortunate. It is a humbling experience to be acknowledged by such awards, but one that I dedicate to all those who have made a difference to society through their individual contributions, not only in monetary terms, but in terms of passion, empathy and selfless acts".
"I believe that even the corporate world needs to support scouting and guiding under their CSR responsibility", he further adds.
